Erie County Forest

I am not sure what is more beautiful the road to Erie county forest or the hike itself. If you are not hiking/mountaineering/outdoor person this would be one of the options you should explore. The ride itself very scenic , especially in the fall. On the way to the park if you take the country road(which you should), you will come across a range of small hills which look as if an artist has applied pastel colors on the leaves. The drive is smooth and you will come cross over a small town called Holland. I have never been to actual Holland but i believe this is the prettiest town i have visited in the vicinity of Buffalo.

The hike itself is not too long but you can easily get lost as the signs disappear and appear every few feet. You are bound to get confused but stick to a path and stop when you don't see a path sign and then try to spot one. If you don't spot one go to the previous one and try to spot one around you. Trust me its an experience and don't worry you are not in Alaska, its NY and you can always use your cellphone to navigate. In the worst case follow the stream and you will reach somewhere.

The park and hike is very easy and if you vididt the park in the fall it cant get better. At the end of the hike you will encounter some apple trees and they are safe. I have tried and have survived to tell you this tale. The park has two different hikes in opposite directions and now i dont remeber which hike did i commit myself to, but i think it was one on the left.

Incredible Wave - Utah

Wave / Vermillion Cliffs / Coyote Butte Location : Coyote Butte is located near Kanab Utah. The road to the trailhead is rough but one does not need a high clearance vehicle. Accommodation : I did see someone camp near the trailhead not sure if it is allowed. However, Kanab is a town and lot of accommodation can be found here. I used airbnb for my trip to Kanab. Kanab has a visitors center that will give you all the necessary information related to accommodation and restaurants. Hike : The hike to Wave is close to 6 miles and so be ready to walk in sand and on rocks. It can be managed by a novice hiker. I did do a mistake of going to Wave in June right in the middle of summer and the heat made hiking a bit of challenge. However, when you reach the Wave you will realize it is so much worth it. If you do go on this hike in summer make sure you carry enough water and be ready to walk on sand dunes. Access : In order to go to Wave one needs to apply fo...

Arches National Park and Canyonland National Park

Delicate Arch The theme of this post is city boys. A term i learned from my friend living in Denver Colorado. So why city boys? We dont hate city boys but just like to make fun of how people think when they have lived their entire life in a city and wilderness to them is like going back to stone age. I thought it was funny but i found it hilarious when i went back to work on Monday ( after my trip to Moab) and the first thing my co worker tell me is " i took this amazing panorama pic of time square." all i did was smile- so now you get it CITY BOYS. Seems like you stumbled to this post or blog because you were searching for some adventure in Moab. In that case you are atleast better than city boys described so briefly above. As pointed out to you in my previous posts that i try to make most of time while travelling on my employers money. Majority of the time my conferences either last entire week or until Wednesday and i take the rest of the week off. This was the case...
